...well not quite as I don't have any polo shirts and I can't drink to save my life... But this NGD and the solo album procrastination is close enough I guess...
Consider this a part 2 to the last one.
In my new quest in reinventing and broadening my tonal palette, I decided that I needed more single coil equipped guitars. I also purposely didn't want a HSS guitar either. I was toying with the idea of getting an RG and having it customised to 3S format, but was talked out of doing it for being too much of an effort and it probably won't be the same as having an authentic Strat. So that became out of the question.
After going to a music store for some other supplies as well as trying various Fenders, I saw them selling this with an obscenely huge mark down sale to criminal levels. I was actually set on a Fender US Strat in seafoam green, but this was far too good of an opportunity to pass so I jumped at this:
G&L Legacy US (Ash).
I must admit I was cautious on the ash body, but after plugging it in, I was sold. The thing is divine to play. The neck reminds me of my old Charvel SoCal (same color scheme too) and the bridge is fantastic, even with my abusage... well not as much as my locking trems anyway.
While the stock pickups were fine, I wanted something with more juice yet maintaining the classic Strat sound. So in came a trio of Dimarzio Cruisers and now I'm in Strat heaven.
Now excuse me while I try my best Eric Johnson and Yngwie impersonation... and failing miserably...
I've always wanted to try one of those G&L's but I've never had a chance. You're also missing one key thing for your complete Drew transformation. You need a fugly pickguard.
