Woohoo! It's my birthday in a few days, so I'm calling this an early present for myself. I saw this pop up on Craigslist and for $250, I couldn't pass it up.
2007 Fender HSS Stratocaster, made in Mexico. Alder body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard. It has a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates in the bridge and Fender Texas Specials in the middle and neck. So far, it plays really well. The frets have no wear on them and seem have great fretwork. I need to change the strings because these are too big, old, and not Elixirs. I really like the Pearly Gates; I'd never played one before. Since it's low-output, I don't have to worry about an output difference between the humbucker and single coils. I can't decide about the Texas Specials yet. They sound good, but I want the single coils to have a bit more chime and to the high-end so they eventually might be swapped out.
The sunburst finish with the pickguard looks great in person, and also matches my Tele in the same finish and pickguard.
First on the list will be to change strings, lube the nut and string tree, tighten all the screws and such, and do a full setup. I'll probably also get a scotchbrite pad and knock down some of the poly on the neck.
