This was a project I've been toying with for a while. Originally I wanted a trem equipped guitar but I settled with this RG workhorse that a lot of younglings tend to have for their first guitar. But I ain't no spring chicken, and I wanted a Tele meets Les Paul Junior kind of vibe for this RG. So in came 2 Speed Knobs, Graphtech Nut, Dimarzio 3 way selector and a pair of Seymour Duncan Phat Cats. It actually kinda reminds me of the old JS600 and JS700 models.
It's not my high end guitars yes, and it's also my lightest RG as I tend to prefer weightier instruments. But it's quite fun to play. I also strung it with a very thick string gauge (either 11-54 or 12-56 I forget which) on standard tuning. It's a real workout to play this instrument. When I plugged it in, I felt sonically naked without humbuckers and a trem, but that was the concept for this project.
I should be able to get Buddy Guy style bends after a few hours of practice here.
Looks nice dude!
