Thinking about ordering a Carvin CT6 and have a few questions I thought I'd throw out to you guys, in case any of you have dealt with them before.
1. The Wilkinson trem - I hear it's pretty crappy, possibly because they use a cheaper Asian version than they used to. I don't use a trem enough to want another locking trem, is there a GREAT aftermarket trem to replace the stock Wilkinson? Maybe another Wilky or a Gotoh or something?
2. Fretboard - Do they allow you to send them a blank or two (BR, cocobolo, etc) and use that on the guitar you order? I'm thinking of going with a rosewood type board but hate the plain look of their generic rosewood slabs. Either cocobolo or Brazilian would look better and be snappier than Indian rosewood.
That's it - I won't be ordering for a month or so anyway (still in a cast/brace) so feel free to drag this miles off topic
Jim - the Gotoh Wilkinson should be a drop in replacement for the Carvin, is cheap ($80-110 or so depending on finish), and is one of my favorite trems of any style; performs a lot like a double locking trem, but with the simplicity of a vintage trem. It's awesome. I wish they made a seven string version.
