My 82 Mockingbird, which is my favorite guitar. Problem is, it has the unique BC Rich scale (a bit shorter than an LP scale) and a Kahler, and I know that for heavy playing that's a bit of a problem, because anything with a heavy attack (which is pretty much exclusively what I play) the tuning jumps around a bit too much for my tastes. Particularly on open strings.
Any ideas on how to fix it? I use reasonably heavy strings (52-11 tuned DGCFAD). I might be willing to move up to 54-12 (though the nut would need filing). Thing is, I've had the same string gauge on 24.75 scale guitars for years and never had a problem, and this scale is an insignificant amount shorter. Could it be the Kahler? Any way I can optimize it for heavy rhythms? I know you can add more springs to a Floyd to alleviate this problem on them, is something similar with a Kahler?
It sounds like this, excuse the sloppy playing,
New/more springs in the kahler? I was gonna say go to a higher string gauge but I use 52's for drop c.
