so I've decided to buy a new guitar. My price range is 2000 to 4000 Euro but I'd prefer to spend around 3000.
What I'm looking for is definitely something a bit more heavy, i.e. something I can use to play metal and hard rock, i.e. Dream Theater, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne (those Randy Rhoads riffs).
I don't want to focus solely on these genres since I also like to play softer stuff sometimes, i.e. indie rock or Eric Clapton etc. but as far as I understand it it's not really possible to have that range.
A good clean sound would be nice since I really love these (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NV0tfcJzGU this is really nice however it's a tad too harsh - is it even possible to have a heavy guitar with a soft clean sound?).
What I was looking at was either a John Petrucci signature model by music man (the JP6 Mystic Dream looks really nice, could get it for around 3000 or even a bit less I think) or a Custom 24 by PRS (I think with this one I'd be looking at about 3500).
The thing is I don't know how well a PRS Custom 24 can handle metal. Folks tell me they can handle almost anything but I wanted to make sure.
Though maybe you guys can suggest something entirely different. I just know that the MM JP guitars and the PRS ones are really nice and people love them so I focused on those, don't know what other stuff is available on the market (I mean I know there are ESP, Ibanez, Schechter guitars etc. but I don't know what models are recommendable).
C24's handle metal just fine, they're fantastic guitars. Just about any guitar can "handle" metal.
I have a mystic JP6 and it's my go-to sixxer these days. They are fantastic guitars.
