I decided to try recording acoustic/electric stuff with a Fishman Aura Spectrum pedal, and it works great. So, I've been expanding my acoustic/electric arsenal. This is the main one:
This one sounds great through the Aura on any number of different acoustic images. It's pretty standard--semi-hollow body with L.R. Baggs bridge transducer. The unusual thing about the Acousticaster is that it has special metal tines under the bridge that add some sparkle to the sound. It's noticeable compared to my Godin A12, which is basically the same setup but without the tines.
I had to have the action professionally lowered--the nut slots were way too high. It plays great now that I've had that done, and it's nice to have an "acoustic" with an electric-style neck shape, frets and radius. Can my instrumental folk-rock shred project be far off?
Those are way cool, and yes the Fishman Aura stuff is fantastic. I've got the Sixteen, which is just a stripped down version of the Spectrum. Sounds awesome with the Graphtech GHOST stuff.
