Hi there! I've had the guitar for a few weeks now. Been bad weather to do pictures in as well, and I hate indoor lighting for guitar pictures. Especially with just a mobile phone camera at my disposal.
Let's do some background first. Hopefully not too long.
Edit: Longer than "not long"...
I have an SZ320MH that I've had for almost 10 years now since I was 14. It's been my main the entire time. Tried other stuff. Nothing compares.
Recently the frets have started wearing more and more, so I've been looking around for a new guitar never really finding something I want in terms of specs and feel.
Now, I've always had the 1220 in the back of my head, as it's the Prestige brother of the 320. "But the 2020 or 4020?" you say. The korean half brothers...
Wrong bridge. Not a bad bridge. It's on my MMM1. But the Gibraltar III is the most comfy thing ever, and string through.
So I started looking for custom stuff. Mayones (Setius) etc.
Then BAM! This bad boy pops out of nowhere. I just couldn't NOT do it! Surreal. One owner, great condition. So jumped on it and I couldn't be any happier!
Pictars, then short summary of other stuff
It feels JUST like my 320, but with a japanese "prestige" quality to it. It's almost the same weight as my 320 as well which is really light.
The MMM1 however is heavy as balls, but I like it.
The stock pickups were too heavy in the bass department and lacked some clarity for my taste, so I've ripped the Dominions out of the MMM1 and put them in here to give them a trial run.
If I'm not satisfied I'll try the JB/Jazz from the 320. So far though, the Dominions sound great! Maybe clips soon.
No fret dots was a challenge. For like 2 minutes. And it looks hot with just the bare rosewood.
The neck, oh my god the neck, is the best thing ever. The SZ shape and the bare mahogany is just. Sploosh...
Going to try and get a proper family shot of the 320, 1220 and the MMM1 in the nearest future. Until then!
Nice looking fiddle!
