Just got this little beauty which is replacing my USA B8 Deluxe as my main live 8 string.
Decided to changing things up color-wise and (gasp!) not get a blue guitar this time around. Went for Matte Black and a none more black kind of aesthetic on this one.
Body is Basswood, Neck is Maple and Fretboard is Ebony. Got my BKP Juggernaut 8 string set in there to round things out nicely, and the guitar sounds absolutely massive, with no cost to the fullness from the relatively light weight (especially compared to the rather thick and mahogany filled B8).
The 20 inch radius and stainless steel frets make the fretboard a very friendly place to be. I find that on larger fretboards, the radius always seems a bit exaggerated, so a flat one like a 20 is always welcome.
Also have luminlays for side dots, because it's a live guitar and that shit rules. Other than that we have hipshot locking tuners and bridge.
Seeing as how I have Juggernauts both in the USA B8 and this guitar, and both guitars have maple necks with ebony boards, I can only assume that the body is doing most of the work in the tonal difference between the guitars, and it further proves why I just love basswood as a tonewood, and generally lighter bodies with very dense/firm necks.
Anyways here are pics:
Top of that will be nice and shiny soon if its a live guitar!
