Default Body wood combos that work good together?

Ok so i work at a cabinet shop and i have access to lots of alder and walnut so i was wondering if these would sound good together?

Also what other combos work good and arent too muddy or extremely bright?

Never tried alder and walnut together, but don't see why they wouldn't sound good. Walnut looks great satin or oil finished as a top wood and has a good tap tone in my experience, and alder is a great balanced tonewood.

Generalizations are overrated.

Walnut is supposed to be tonally similar to maple, so an alder body with a 1/4" or so walnut top might sound pretty damned good. It would certainly look good.
