Long story short I sent a guitar body up to a guy in Queensland. Packed it up nice and night, bubble wrap, polystyrene panels and a tight fitting box. Well it arrived looking like this.
Somehow despite it being an Epiphone SG, the neck joint and headstock survived intact.
So I sent a claim in to the shipping broker and the promptly told me they won't process the claim as it wasn't in a hard case. So yeah, kinda pissed about this. What would have happened if I sold an actual expensive guitar and sent it up? Or a brand new guitar that didn't ship in a hard case? Even their terms and conditions are vague simply saying that the guitar should be shipped in their hard case as opposed to an outright it must be in a hard case.
So yeah, for anyone in Australia, I would recommend avoiding Smart Send like the plague. This is the second damaged guitar I've had to deal with and the last 3 pickups they were supposed to do were a whole day late.
So someone painted it an ugly blue and black, then broke it in half? Fuck those guys
