Wirelessly posted (Wondernuts)
I have been wanting one for so many years and have missed every opportunity until now. This popped up on reverb so I had it sent to my Portland forwarding address and passed onto me.
Box was larger than I expected but hey, it was well packed. Explains why I paid more than usual for shipping. However I must give credit to UPS as it arrived 2 days earlier than expected and in immaculate condition with not a scuff on the box.
It's been well travelled having been a touring guitar for Jona Weinhoffen. can't stand the music but the guys taste in guitars is impeccable.
A 2005 Angelus 24 in see through black cherry. Proper TOM bridge, 24 frets for optimal neck pickup placement and a wonderful rounded neck that sits perfect in my palm. It was awesome opening that case to see it in all it's beaten up glory. Despite the body being in worse for wear shape (the way I like it) it's had the electronics redone, a new tone pros locking bridge, a full fret job and the headstock repaired after it was completely broken off. The receipt was in the case too and I almost choked at the repair cost. $1100 all up (not much less than I paid for the guitar) but I've never seen such a quality headstock repair. You would only know under a black light.
I plugged it in and was just blown away by the sound. It's like this guitar was carved just for me. Everything fit right and it sounded beyond what I had hoped. For the first time, there's nothing I want to change on a guitar with the exception of the strap (I hate Dimarzio straps so Paul Gilbert can suck it) and move the volume control closer to the playing position.
The top may not be the fanciest of flame (in fact it's almost non existent and looks like an old 50s Lp) but I don't give a fuck. I didn't buy it for the fancy looking wood, I bought it for the fancy SOUNDING wood.
I was so sad when I had to leave the house to go handle some errands for a few hours. I'm itching to get back to play it some more.
I love it when a plan comes together.
