    NGD: Damn cheap PRS SE245

So here it is, the $348 special. Actually arrived Saturday, since Fedex Home delivers on Saturdays and Sweetwater is only 4 hours away.

The pickups are surprisingly not awful; I'll probably wait to do those at the same time I get the Graphtech Ghost bridge. The only immediate change will be the tuners to locking Schallers, and a TUSQ nut.

Otherwise, I'm pretty amazed. It plays very well. Solidly built and loud acoustically. The neck is somewhat fat, but round and comfy. What I'm really enjoying, funny enough, is the LP controls setup.

The only downsides of the instrument:

    1. Needs tuners and a nut for better stability
    2. Probably needs pickups in the long run
    3. Really makes me want to get a really nice LP-ish guitar someday, like the PRS P245 or Heritage H150.

    It's a great value at $650, but at $350 it's a steal.

That is screaming for a chrome-covered Aldrich bridge/Duncan Alnico II neck set

Also, if it's anything like my old one, note that the headstock is thicker than usual and Schallers will fit, but you might have to really tighten them down to make sure that you can get the strings in the holes.

Badass, dude. And yeah, I was surprised the pickups in my Singlecut SE were pretty decent too.

Yeah, I had planned to do the upgrades I did on mine anyways, but even bone stock I couldn't stop playing it. The stock pickups are decent, they just have that PRS sound (a little smooth on the highs) and I wanted something with a little more clarity and bite. Still, I almost wouldn't mind a second one with stock pickups to get that sound (mostly for playing Karnivool/Porcupine Tree covers at home, but also for playing shitty songs I liked in high school at home ).
