I'm interested in getting a new guitar for doing downtuned stuff with my band and I have two guitars in mind:
A Gibson Snow Falcon V
and an Ibanez Prestige RG.
They both have their own strengths and weaknesses and I like both but which is going to be a better, more reliable long term instrument?
The Ibby's strengths are that it has an unfinished neck (with the Wizard profile), has a nice, easy body shape and it's made in Japan so quality should be pretty sweet. However, it has a trem (which I'm not a fan of due to setting up being difficult) as well as being modded and therefore only has one pickup and one volume. (also has no case)
The Gibson has two humbuckers and a tune-o-matic, was made in the USA, comes with a case and has a nice neck profile, slightly chubbier than Ibby necks but fits well in my big hands. It's also comfortable as it sits well in classical position (how I usually play)
However, it does have a glossy neck and it costs quite a bit more than the Ibby due to being B Stock and the Ibby being second hand.
Which do you lot think would be a better choice to try and get? Any opinions are welcome, cheers.
You really need to go play them, because you would be hard pressed to find two guitars that could be more different than those two. Then buy the one that feels best.
Personally, I love the RG Prestige series.
