Okay pics to follow. My phone won't take pics when the batteries are low.
So if people might recall I had a 4x12 cab that I was trying to unload. After a month of no bites from ebay or kijiji. I decided to go the pawn shop route.
I decided to wait to see if a guitar came in that I would be interested in trading for. Typically the place has a wall of entry level guitars but one or two nice ones pass through.
So there it was a red Wolfgang Special. This is the made in China version.
I paid $325 US/$415 Canadian plus traded in the cab and a few pedals. The pedals were a Ibanez TS9 but I have a Maxon 808. The other pedal was a Boss Metal Zone..... we all know how people feel about that here.
Very happy as I unloaded some junk and got a decent guitar for what I consider to be a good price. If I'm not mistake this guitar goes for $1300 CDN plus we have 13% sales tax.
Plugged it in and was pleased with the sounds. The neck is comfortable and I'm not sure if it's the stubby headstock or short scale length but the neck feels short. Slimish neck. One thing that I noticed that I didn't come across in reviews was the volume knob feels really loose while the tone knob is firm. I wonder if that is a defect or if that is intentional. I mean I could see it being intentional as Eddie is known to have tricks where he modulates the volume with the knob.
Some people don't like the shape, I think it's fine. I didn't notice any discomfort with how it sat in my lap but then again I haven't played it for long.
I don't think I would buy this guitar off the rack as at that price point there are a ton of options. But used with some trade ins I can't complain.
It's funny I totally didn't mean to do it but now I have a 6505+, Wolfgang Special, and a EVH III 2 x 12 cab. Just kind of happened. The cab was purchased cause it was 25% off, the 6505 because it is so well regarded here on MG, and the Special was the best guitar in the store that I could trade for and would actually want.
Those have special low friction volume knobs.
