Default Thinking about getting a new PRS Satin and giving it a metal upgrade.

this is the next guitar that i want, its satin so the tone of the wood just bursts out. also want a painkiller in the bridge and something really warm and clean for ...well cleans. then replace the pickup rings with rosewood rings.

what do you guys think? or

some of the pics are shiny so i dont know exactly how much gloss or satin gloss is on. these are three of the five pics of this guitar i have found in the past few weeks. i guess im going to order it through a dealer and pay full price, hope one pops up on ebay in the next two months while im saving up.

Satin as in a satin poly finish, or satin as in oil finish?

The amount of shineyness of the finish isn't what dictates how well wood resonates and "breathes," dude, it's how thick the finish is, and a heavy coat of satin will dampen vibration just as much as gloss will. what you want is an oil-finished PRS.

i've never been a prs fan. i've played some here and there that i liked but as for a metal guitar, i've always prefer something with a 25.5 scale.

I had a charcoal satin PRS a year or two ago, take it from me they're sweeeeeeet! Only downside is that chords can sound quite muddy due to the mahogany and rosewood combo.
