Well this is the final guitar I can purchase for quite some time due to my finances all being tied up in a new business venture (a games store). So for $150 it was just too good to pass up. I always wanted one as a teenager but being poor and in a country where $1AUD=$0.49USD, these were about $2000 in 2002. The guy who owned it had it in a closet for about 5 years.
I was really inspired to buy one after seeing Haggus and Keith post about them in the last few months but I never liked the 420 with those awkward knobs and ridiculously thin edges, so this SCA220 is awesome because it's thick around the edges, like the SZ series but thinner. Although I never realised these ones have a one piece neck, no scarf joint on the headstock. Even the pickups actually sound good although I want to go through my pickup drawer and find the right combo for it. So far I have Dimarzio PAF Pro, Norton, Tone Zone, D Sonic and Evo 2, Duncan Distortion and JB and EMG 81, 85 and a 57/66 set that just arrived.
I'll be doing a similar thing to my trem rebuild to this but for people buying second hand guitars and wanting to bring them back to life, especially as this has some rusting on the tuners, the bridge is dirty and the fretboard is fully gunked up.
