Wirelessly posted (Wondernuts)
So long story short, I contacted a guy a few months back on Gumtree as he was looking for gold EMGs. I happen to have a set that I was gonna remove. So I contacted him and told him I had them. He was stoked and wanted to see them. So I sent a photo of them in the Angelus. He promptly lost his shit as he has wanted an Angelus for years. So he keeps asking can he trade anything for the guitar and I wasn't interested. Even tried trading me the Charvel I sold a few months back to which I obviously wasn't interested. I mentioned the only guitar I may trade it for is a TAT.
Fast forward to last week and he tries to offer me a 2009 TAT in Crimson that was one of Jona Weinhofens (like my angelus). I express some interest and after some negotiating it looked like he would trade the TAT plus a Cilia Harlequin with BKPs for my Angelus and the Classic 100. I'm still iffy on it as I said to him the whole time I'm not really looking to sell.
I get back in contact a few days later and say ok let's do it. However he doesn't have the Cilia anymore. So I said alright, replace the Cilia with $600 (how much he listed it for on Gumtree) and we will do it maybe. Then more bargaining and him offering me more stuff I don't want or can get cheaper elsewhere.
By this point I don't want to trade anymore and after a little looking again, I found the going rate on TATs in Japan is about $1300 including shipping and I Could sell my Angelus for about $2000-$2500 so his offer of the TAT + $200 is well below equal value. So I tell him nicely that I don't think we can make a deal on this one and show him the links to the TATs listed and wish him the best of luck on his search.
So he starts insulting me and saying I don't know what I'm talking about and international prices have no bearing on what trades are worth etc etc. This is followed up by a few insults and him having a go at me. Then he starts being a dick on my listings on a Facebook group for buying and selling locally.
Seriously, if I didn't list the item for sale, why get pissy when I don't want to sell it or decide to raise my price to tempt me to sell it. Not my fault he can't afford an Angelus and they're highly valued in my particular configuration because production numbers were stupidly low and discontinued 5 years ago.
Anyone else dealt with people like this before?
Oh just a little bit... Ironically involving an Angelus.
