NGD: James Tyler Studio Elite in Malibu Beach Schmeariness

I actually picked this one up last Friday but haven't let go of it for long enough or had enough free time to post up about it. Anyway, after looking at my guitar 'stable' recently I realised that pretty much everything I had was all-mahogany and had a H-H layout. I'd just grown a bit stale with everything to be honest. So I saw this come up 'used' at a local shop/store and decided to go and check it out along with a couple of others, notably the Charvel Govan Sig. I'd always wanted to try a Tyler and didn't want to pass this opportunity up. The thing just blew me away! As soon as I saw it I fell in love but when I played it, the game was over. The price was quite extravagant I admit but I brought along a couple of guitars to trade-in to soften the blow. Otherwise I never would have afforded it! As it turned out I hardly had to pay anything on top and I left an extremely happy customer!

After having played it now pretty solidly for a week I can safely say it is the finest guitar I've ever held. It's so light and airy. It weighs in at around 6.5lbs and it sings so loud, the thing is almost like a hollow. The pickups are great and can get you anywhere from Tele twang to full-on Bucker grunt. The mid-boost is a nice feature but I haven't used it too much yet. The finish isn't to everyone's taste I know, but I love it. I keep finding new little 'areas' in the finish, it's great.

I wanted something versatile, light and that can cover any genre I wanted. I found it. Only trouble is now this has pretty much ruined every other guitar for me! /corksniffing

That is beautiful. It looks like the surface of a harsh planet.

Best offer I've had all day.

And yeah Lee, it's great to play! The neck profile is their ''59'' profile, according to the spec sheet that came with it. It's quite substantial without being a baseball bat. And it really is just raw birdseye maple. The trem on this thing just refuses to go out of tune too. Like at all, ever.
