So I went to my local music store on Saturday and played a bunch of guitars on the wall, mostly all Gibsons. The last one I picked up was this:
(Disclaimer - these are the store's photos, so I still need to take some myself).
2012 Gibson Historic R8, used but barely played. The neck is gigantic, the pickups are Burstbuckers (and suck), and it weighs just over 9lbs. It's one of the best playing guitars I've ever picked up, and was priced lower than a new LP Standard or Traditional. They put it on hold for me for a couple days, and I went back over tonight with a few basses that I never play (and my old LP Studio) and traded them all in for it. I'm down to 2 guitars (and 2 basses), but goddamnit they are awesome guitars. I will probably have to swap out the pickups at some point. New Historic prices are absolutely stupid - the CS8 (which replaces the R8) is going to be just over 5k and have a short tenon, and the True Historic (which is a long tenon R8 with some lab formulated plastic that will make it more vintagelike) is going to be almost 7k, so this is a steal.
