30 scale wars: choosing between Squier Bass VI & Danelectro 56 Baritone

So I'm in the market for a 30 scale 6 string tuned for sub octave. I'll be using it for the subtle overdubs, the odd bass session where I need for tic-tacs or that Jack Bruce sound, or whatever inspriation hits. I'm not planning to spend over 1 grand AUD either.

Right now it's narrowed to these two possibilites. The Squier seems to be designed for that sub octave standard sound, and I was set on it until I saw the Danelectro for a few hundred dollars more. They're both different styles of instruments so I'm curious what your opinions on these instruments are.

My preference is the Danelectro because I have a soft spot for old spaghetti western music and Star Trek TOS tunes. The lipsticks are great and because they connect in series in the middle selection they get a really awesome tone plus the hollow body is excellent for a little more 'thud' tone. I found the Bass VI to be a little thin.

I'd go for the Jazzmaster Baritone, personally. Fixed bridge and Jazzmaster singlecoils could give it an interesting sound.

The Schecter Ultra VI I have is great.

Too much knowledge leads to confusion
Too many guitar lessons lead to jazz-fusion

    The Ibanez SRC6 is awesome.

Though I definitely want to try the Schecter as well.
