Has there been any "semi-recessed" floyds at any time?
With that I mean a dive-only type of floyd (which I like a lot) that has been recessed enough to not need a neck angle (which I don't like), so I figured recessing just enough to make the Floyd sit flat against the wood, but precise enough to keep the neck straight.
I'm thinking of a Warmoth build where I can keep the neck straight, and then simply rout away 2-3 mm of wood. Maybe even a liiiiiiiiiiittle bit too much, and then use saddle shims to get the strings to a good height (since it can be pretty much impossible to know exactly how low it should go without proper knowledge about neck relief and stuff).
Any others with experience in this?
How about a flat mount Floyd and don't tilt the neck but raise it up?
