Got into an argument with a white night on the Caparison Facebook group. I posted this image of a headstock from a period of poor build quality from them.
The neck wood isn't much nicer either.
I pointed out the huge knot at the scarf joint and said that sometimes dud guitars can be made. I have a Mexican Tele with a knot in the neck but if expect that from a $500 guitar. Not a $2500 one. So then he kept saying it was my opinion and that the neck was fine, completely missing my point about it being unacceptable on such a high end guitar.
What do you think? Would you be sceptical of a high end guitar with a flaw like that in the wood (that isnt a Gibson).
What about you guys who build guitars, would you use a piece of wood like that on one you were shipping to a customer? Especially on such a small piece like the headstock where the wastage wouldn't be much?
Sounds like you were arguing with Jim from S7.
