Ibanez RG550 and similar - one piece necks?

I was thinking and do all old "legendary" 550s and similar have one-piece necks? I have no idea how thin those are exactly (I've never played any 550s) but wouldn't more modern 5-piece necks be more desireble?

Before 1997 550s had a "one piece" neck, the headstock is a scarf joint though. After that they got the bubinga strip, which made them more stable. I have 2 of the old school necks right now, and have had a couple more over the years, with no issues.

The older one piece necks were notorious for developing a crack where the nut bolts to the neck. It's easy enough to fix with some thin superglue, but it's very very common.

I have two guitars with wizard necks, a 1990 S540LTD an 1991 RG760, and haven't had any issues with either. Compared to, for example, the ESP Horizon I sold last year, both necks are extremely stable. I haven't needed to adjust the neck a single time on either Ibanez ( and I've had the S-series since 2003), while the ESP needed a truss-rod adjustment at least twice a year because of humidity and temperature change. I also remember that the RG2077XL I had a few years ago had more neck issues, despite having a 5 piece neck.

The S540 did get a small crack in the neck at the nut bolts from falling headstock first into the floor, but the crack hasn't affected neck stability or gotten bigger in the 10-ish years since it happened.

Another common thing is finish cracks at the neck-joint, but those are purely cosmetic issues (and barely noticeable)

The neck on my 2013 Genesis edition 550 is 3-piece (probably technically 5, there are what looks to be two super-thin layers of bubinga between the pieces, IIRC) with titanium reinforcement. Despite being, well, just as thin as you expect of a Wizard, it's been fairly stable so far.

I personally prefer the Wizard Prestige profile to the one I had on my 2001 550. The 550's profile was very boxy. Very flat at the back of the neck, and really pronounced shoulders. I find the Wizard Prestige necks to be a lot more comfortable but also feel better made/more stable.

The necks of my JPMs are all old one piece, they're almost 20 years old and they're all in fantastic shape.
