It's 1989, AJFA has dropped and Metallica embark on a tour with the best set list they'll ever have. James is playing his classic MX220 and Kirk has his now well played MM270 custom adorned with a Zorlac sticker.
This is one of those Zorlacs. A 1989 MM270 with the classic reverse Concorde headstock, dual EMG 81s, neck through maple and alder, parallel skull and crossbones inlays and an OFR instead of the Synclair found on so many of them. This one also has a painted neck like the early KH2s which is a nice change. Not many of these made given the possibility of litigation from Jackson, hence the change over to the more familiar broad headstocks we all know.
It's in desperate need of a solid clean and once over. The grime has sat on the finish so long that I have to clean over the same spot about 4 times before it's finally removed. Thankfully the fretboard has no shrinkage, the frets are fine, hardware and electronics are working and the neck is straight.
I am considering holding onto this just because it feels better than I thought it would. Between this and the MV290, people would assume I'm a huge Kirk fanboy even though I'm a massive James fanboy. XD
