Okay so I find myself in the situation where I would like to buy a guitar so I can modify it, put new tuners on it...whatever.
I don't want to spend too much an the base guitar since I haven't any experience with guitars yet. This is my opportunity I have taken to try to learn more about my axes.
To start this off, I will begin with my price range, which should be $0-$250 (Obviously I'm not gonna find a decent base guitar for free, it's just the range though). The only other required points for it are that it is a 6 string electric guitar.
Preferably in one of my favorite body shapes too, here they are in order of preference. (Of course I don't expect to get any of these for around my price range, I just like the shapes)
1. Ibanez AX (I really dig the beveled looking edges)
2. Gibson Firebird
3. Gibson Les Paul
4. Fender Telecaster
5. Fender Strat
Now along with spending very little on the base guitar itself, I also want to ensure that putting any money in it, it will sound pretty good. I do recording at home through my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 and use amplifier simulators to get the tones I want. It works pretty great with my Epiphone Les Paul Custom.
I also prefer HH pickup setups. SSH are okay I guess, but SSS or SS is a no go. I play rock, metal, and alternative and like the HH sound best.
Let me know, what should I look for? If I even should do so...
Anyways, thanks for the feedback, I will keep looking at the comments frequently.
