Just a little post about string gauge for Open B ( B F# B F# B D#) :
i am experimenting this tunning on a 24.7 scale, and there's no much information on this on the interwebs, so i thought it might be useful to share.
So, i use a custom gauge set :
.11 - .15 - .18 - .34 - .46 - .64
Before that, i used a classic 12 to 60, but the tension on the lower end was not stiff enough, and the high end was way too tight (as in Open B, the two last strings are quite high).
With .11 - .15 - .18 - .34 - .46 - .64, i have a nice tension everywhere.
The tension on the .15 B is still a bit too high though, so next time i think i will try .11 - .13 - .18 - .46 - .64
That's it :-) any experiences on this ?
Have a nice day,
I have my Jackson KVXT in that tuning with my regular D'Addario 10-52s... works pretty well. Heavier strings on the bottom would probably be better, but because I have to tune it up to Eb every now and then, it works fine for me.
