Hi there !
Recently, i went up to a 070 string gauge on my 24.75 neck ( 11-13-18-36-48-70 Open B - B/F#/B/F#/B/D#).
The tone is waaay better and it feels very nice to play, but i wonder if i can hurt my guitar if i play like this for a long time.
I know : i should use a way longer scale for this kind of tuning but i love my Eclipse and like to play on short scales. I have an Ibanez with a 25.5 scale but you know ... Meeeeh .
The tension is not too high i think, but i guess the nut and the bridge of my guitar aren't made to support those kind of strings.
I use an ESP LTD EC 1000.
Any reason to worry ?
Thanks in advance !
You'll probably need to widen your nut slots, but it shouldn't harm your guitar. I keep my 25" scale PRS SE tuned Bb-Bb with .068-.014 and haven't had any problems.
