My first real guitar was an MIJ RG470 that got back in 99, and I still use to this day. I found out that there was a 27" scale version and have been hunting one down since. That hunt ended last year when I got this RG470XL.
Of course my natural inclination was to mod this, much like everyone does to RGs. With my main axe having having Dimarzios (2 Breeds and a Red Velvet) and a Gotoh Floyd, I was going for the similar affair. And since I was going to tune it to drop-Bb, along came a pair of Dimarzio Dominions and a Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues 2. And since I've pulled the entire Lo Trs off the body mid performance last time, the Gotoh Floyd was a mandatory upgrade.
Last cosmetic choice I made was to have black/cream pickups. I've got enough black RGs. Unfortunately, these took ages to be shipped to Melbourne, and they actually got the wrong bobbins on the first initial shipment, but it was worth the wait.
I was also planning on getting Gibson style gold top hat knobs or even gold Speed knobs, but opted out in the last minute. My tech insisted that I DIDN'T go the Gibson route and gave me 2 cream strat knobs for free, granted f I decide to make a change.
I still have to adjust the bridge to my preference, but once that's done this will be ready for pillaging.
