Been GASing hard for an 8 string recently after listening to too much Meshuggah, was shopping around for an RG8 to test the water as I've only ever played 7s before but this thing came up for a good price so I jumped on it.

It's a 2008, fairly good condition for it's age - just the one ding on top and some around the edges (which have been painted) which Ibanezes seem prone to anyway - got them all around the edges of my 7620

Not sure if the EMGs will stay, never had them in a guitar before and they do sound good, but super compressed compared with what I'm used to, IMO anyway. Got some new strings and some 9v battery harnesses coming so I'll give it a good clean and lemon oil and do the reversible 18v mod then see what I think. Don't want to be buying pickups as well as I am supposed to be saving for something else entirely!

Just noticed taking these that there's no 21st fret marker at all, as in, it hasn't even been routed for it strange...

Photos aren't the best, it was summer last week here in the UK and we get about one week of it, back to rain showers now.

Nice one! Looks good, and that case looks awesome. It's all about the velour trim.

I played an 8 like once, and didn't have a fucking clue what to do with it

No idea whatsoever as to how to use an 8, but that's an awesome guitar!

That's pretty. I haven't seen many 2228 NGDs recently, but they're solid guitars. Wonder what happened with that 21st fret marker though?

Great guitars. I had one for a while and while the 8 string wasn't my thing, the guitar itself was extremely well made and sounded awesome.

(I also had an RGA8 afterwards, which was a titanic piece of shit. )

These are built like tanks with pretty awesome fretwork. Enjoy!

TBH you'd probably never play a 7 if you weren't in a band with me, so I'm not surprised the 8 throws you.
