So, it's been a while since I've posted here.
I'm currently finishing working on a guitar and would like advice on what I should go for.
Essentially, it's like this. I'm using a MIM strat body with a Warmoth neck, I'm going to be using Sperzel tuners that match the color of the bridge, and most likely be tuning to Drop B or Drop A.
So the thing is, the body is routed for a 6 point tremolo. And I don't want to rout it for a 2 point tremolo by any means.
I've put a bit of money in this project and I'd rather not spend a ton of money on it, but not spend so little that I end up with a piece of shit.
I'll set about a 100$ maximum. What recommendations can you folks M?
A couple I'd look at -
Hipshot 6-screw stainless - I'm seeing them at $109 or so. I have the 2-point Contour, and it's awesome - very vintage "feel" but super smooth.
Gotoh Wilkinson VSVG - cheapest I saw was $94. Again, no experience with this one, but the 2-point VS100 is also awesome - more of a Floyd-like feel with a lot more range than a vintage Fender or the Hipshot I'm using now.
Fender also does an Ameriican Vintage 6-point that's a little more than $100, and a 6-point that would be stock on a MIM strat for, well, like $30 new, and probably dirt cheap used on ebay, which isn't the most *exciting* bridge you'll ever use, but is a total vintage-correct workhorse that would save you money you can spend elsewhere on the project.
The Gotoh 6-point being sold by Warmoth is probably good, too, for $50.
