NGD: Custom Charvel So Cal mutt

This is really an 'NBD' I guess (new body day) but I'll get to that in a moment...

Everyone's favourite partscaster enthusiast Cameron hooked a brother up with this beast. This started out as a whimsical and opportunist purchase but has turned out to be my main player.

I started mocking it up back in late July and it finally landed a couple of weeks ago.

I've changed a few things from how I received it - Chiefly and most recently, the neck. This neck is from my Charvel San Dimas (the red one - I've always hated the colour and was thinking of buying a new body for it, but it's currently in parts while I strip the paint and oil it) The one I received from Cameron was great, and was factory fresh and untouched, but that San Dimas was always my main player, and it's got so much mojo and just feels like home to my hands so I swapped them over.

Weirdly, this neck actually plays better when on this body than it did on my San Dimas go figure... It used to have a few buzzy spots (but nothing major) on the upper register but now they're totally gone, even though the action is lower now.

Secondly I changed the black TB6 for a zebra one I had. I'm glad I did, it just looks right with these colours.

    Anyway, pics..

the neck! Man this thing's seen some gigs in the last few years, all that grime and character, love it!

I threw a fat brass block on the Floyd, and whilst I can't quite comment on how it sounded before (I swapped it out before hearing it through my rig) man... This guitar sounds fucking HUGE!

I just played it through my rig for the first time about 4 hours ago at rehearsal...

Not much of a video and not much actual playing going on (just chugging and making sounds) but it sounded so massive I had to grab a quick snippet.

    Gorgeuossssssssssssss!!!

Volume, no Tone (who uses it???) PUP Selector, HS config and no middle S to get in the way of picking, what more can anyone want from a guitar?

Also I keep saying and repeating it, but White Pickguards go along pretty well on White bodies.

Thanks guys! Gonna lay down some riffage with it today.
Also, I've resized the pics, didn't realise they were quite that fucking massive

Isn't it magical? Like a 1970's street dance-off between two rival gangs.
