Which guitar for Drop C/B ?

Trying to decide which one to go with and wondered what you guys think.
I am looking for a guitar to setup with 12's and leave it tuned in drop C or B. I've narrowed my choices down to either a Fender Jim Root strat, or an ESP M-1.

They're both around $1000 used and I like different aspects about both of them.

With the Fender, I know the neck shape well. Fender's modern C shape is one of my favorite neck profiles and I currently have 2 other strats. I'm usually not a fan of Fenders large head stocks but it doesn't look terrible on this model with the black tuners and logos.

The ESP has 24 frets which I like since I don't have a 24 fret guitar but I don't know that I'd realistically ever hit those extra frets so this is not really a big deal. The hardware seems to be better and definitely the nut.

What do you guys think / suggest?

Jim Root Strat. Just practice your up-bends if you wanna get that 24-fret note.

Pretty much this. You can set-up any guitar like that. It just come down to personnl prefs. That beeing said,I just got myself a Jim Root Strat and I love it. It's in C# \ drop B with 10-60's.

Whilst that's technically true, there's no question that certain guitars just suit certain tunings and string gauges, but it's down to the player's preferences. Some guitars will transcend all set-ups and tunings no problem, but I find that some just have to be in whatever tuning they're in, and if I try any other set-up on them it just feels wrong.

Find out what wood types you prefer, and what neck profile, and go from there.

I had a PRS Custom 24 in SE set to drop Bb with 12-60 strings - it was a blast. I've also tuned an LTD MH-1000 in the same tuning, and it was just as fun. Both guitars played great and sounded good (SE got a pickup swap, LTD had EMG's).

Find a comfortable guitar, a string gauge that works for you tuning, and make some music!

I leave my RGD in drop B and it sings. The 26.5 scale really helps.
