    "Budget" to me means affordable.

    A PRS SE is a great guitar on a budget, a core PRS is a great guitar if you have some money to throw around. The SE is a $850 guitar these days, which is not necessarily cheap to a wide variety of people. Most would still call it a budget guitar though.

    Most of the guitars I play are $400 RG570's with EMG's and I have no problems and they don't bother me. I'd consider that a budget guitar. I'm sure they've got issues or whatever but I'm just happy when I get a chance to play these days.

    1200 bucks is A budget , but I would put that firmly in the mid range of price. Definitely not budget.

    "Budget" is relative to... well, the individual's financial pain tolerance.

    If the item works well for you and you were able to comfortably afford it, seems to me it's within your budget - regardless of the cost.
    All I can ask is that I suck a little less each time I pick up my guitar...
