I mean, I'm not just saying this just to be argumentative - imagine that was your guitar, and that to get the action to the point where the strings simply weren't choking, you had to use about 95% of the adjustable range of the Hipshot bridge, because the neck pocket was routed at the wrong angle. You'd be ripshit.

Plenty of other Carvins have been fine, but this issue is widspread on the Aires model, though it looks like they may have FINALLY tweaked their CNC template to get it right, if this Tone King guy's model was indicative. I'm sure that Carvins are generally still fine under the Kiesel name, but when a brand-new model ships with a design flaw for something like two years before the factory fixes it, and when customers complain they got antagnoistic about it for that entire time, that's a BIG quality control and customer service problem.

With things like this, I always consider the worst-case scenario of the transaction. If I'm going to drop Kiesel money, I expect a certain level of consistency, quality, and customer support. Knowing that if I order a Kiesel there's a possibility that a scenario like this could happen seriously makes me reconsider ever ordering from them, regardless of how frequently it happens.

It sucks, because that was never the case with Carvin. They weren't always amazing, and a common complaint was they were pretty bright, but you could work around that with specs and they were consistently good, and they stood behind their product. They were one of the few places you could get an 8 string in something other than basswood so I always toyed with the idea of ordering a bare bones one to try to learn touchstyle stuff on, and now I don't think I could do it. Too much could go wrong.
