What should i be looking at in the $1K'ish range

Im going to be looking at upgrading some gear in the near future. Im going to have a budget of around $1K +/- to spend on a guitar.

I dont need a floyd rose, but dont mind using them. Currently all of my guitars have a F/R, and all of them are blocked.

    Probably looking for a superstrat.

I like Jacksons a lot. I like Ibanez too (have an RG2610e currently), but prefer the neck on my Jacksons.

I would LOVE a quilt top (purple or blue would make all my dreams come true).

    Guitars ive considered:

An esp (M-II?) would be awesome, but iffy in my price range I think. Should I consider an LTD? I don't know anything about ESP / LTD so any advice on the brand/models would be helpful.

    Jackson Soloist

    Charvel So Cal

Any other guitars I should Consider?

Mix it up. Get a hardtail. How about PRS SE? Bangin' guitars at less than $1k, and you can roll the extra into some upgraded hardware if you'd like.

Definitely not opposed to a hardtail, quite the opposite. And ive never really considered a PRS, not really sure why.

I've always sworn by the higher-end MiK LTDs as far as bang-for-the-buck guitars go, but I haven't been looking at prices lately and I think they've gone up a bit. Really anything coming out of that factory (LTD, most Schecter, PRS SE, the top-range Chapmans, a couple other brands) make for some solid workhorse guitars in that range. The LTD M-400 or M-1000 might work for you.

You could build a rad Warmoth for that price.

You can get pretty much anything you want in that price range, the vast majority of guitars I've had that were killer were below $1k, I've gone above for 2-3 exceptions, but $1k isn't a limit at all unless you want a quality Gibson.

I would be looking at late 80s/early 90s Jackson/ESP if I were you.

You want a superstrat shape specifically? Or are you open to other stuff?

I'd recommend going for a used LTD or Edwards. For $1k, you can get a great ESP used, their prices have gone up to be a bit much for the quality new.
