... and I'm trying to record demos for my band. Currently I've only got three guitars; my KXK, the Jackson Death Warrior and an Ibanez 540S7. The S7 is still tuned down a step (I tune to standard) with strings so dead that if you try to play them you'll slice your fingers open. If I'm going to play it it'll need a setup, but I'm useless and setting up floating trems (I have a habit o breaking them) and I don't want to be spending out on a setup for a guitar I'm trying to sell. It's a great guitar that I'd love to keep, I just can't afford to.
My KXK is out of action as I snapped the high E string about 10 days ago. I'm not sure what gauge of strings it came with, but I think they're Ernie Ball 10-56's. I'm using D'addario 10's with a 59 for the low B, so that's got to have a setup now. After my problems with Floyd-style bridges there's no way in hell I'm going to attempt a Kahler, and again I just can't afford it right now. I'm still skint from moving, we're off on holiday at the end of the month and it's my daughter's first birthday this weekend. That involves a big party, so right now guitar setups are a very low priority.
That leaves the Death Warrior. Trying to record stuff Friday night it was cutting out on me. After trouble shooting the usual suspects it seems that the culprit is the jack socket. As far as I can make out the contacts inside have opened up a bit over the years and they won't hold the plug tightly anymore, leading to some side to side play and loss of contact. That at least is something I can sort out myself, but I need to find where I put my spare barrel jack after the move, than find the time to actually change it.
