I already have a pickup lined up for this guitar (Bare Knuckle Cold Sweat), but it's reputed to be very bright, so it may not be suitable for the tone in my head. We'll see when everything comes together, but I'd like to consider other options should it be too bright. I'm looking for recommendations for a smooth, fluid (no spiky highs, please) but articulate 7-string neck pickup that will keep up with the Bare Knuckle Miracle Man in the bridge.
The guitar will probably be very bright by nature: Australian Ash body, quilted maple top, 28" scale, 26 frets, ebony fretboard, stainless steel frets

The Duncan 59-7 in my mahogany Dean 7 was very smooth when it came to the highs. So much so that I asked Wolfe to wind some highs into it . But, it's a mahogany guitar. It sounds like your guitar will be brighter than Hawking.
