Hey guys. So my coworker does some amateur building and is going to help me build one in exchange for some lessons. The only thing I have to provide is the pickup.
I always seem to choose the wrong pup for the wood combo, so I'm hoping you can help. The body is a maple center with mahogany wings, like a neckthrough, but it is a bolt-on. Maple neck and fretboard. I only plan on a bridge pup since I have a limited budget, plus that is all I really want.
I am a huge fan of guys like Ron Jarzombek and Per Nilsson who do all their rhythm and lead work on the bridge pickup. So I'm looking for something like that that would work in these wood combos. Tight, but not ice-picky. Clear low B string, and even across the board. I want to be able to do my lead work on this without feeling like I need to switch to a neck pickup to keep it from not sounding insanely trebly.
I know Ron has said he has used the Evo and Super Distortion, but in different body woods. And Per has mentioned he loves his Paf Pros in his 6. But again, different body wood and a 6.
-So I can't spend over $100. So BKP are out unless I can find a used one.
Suggest away! I appreciate it!
