BKP's don't have a "trial" period, but everyone likes them so if you don't like them you could easily get most of your money back by selling them.

What do you mean by "they're also made to order, based on the config that you give them"?

I have looked up some BKP vids and read about them, and they seem to be freaking br00tal

However the price was a br00tal as the pickups Like 1/3 of the price of the guitar itself... plus shipping costs I know I will get what I pay for, but I do not posses infinite funds. I'm still a student :P

So I think the Bareknuckles will be alternative B, unless I happen to stumble across a bucket of gold or something :P

So instead I've been looking at some Dimarzios. Any tips regarding fitting a pair of these to the Rich?

I have not used many DiMarzios but I really like the Megadrive. It's not listed on their website but they are easily found on Ebay.

Great idea, liked the Megadrive I played recently. Two things: a) The Megadrive is available new from Dimarzio, but it's a special order only, and b) no seven string model.

To Andreas: Bareknuckles will be prohibitively expensive I am afraid! The GBP is relatively strong just now. Over here they are only a few quid more than Dimarzios and Seymour Duncan.

I'm not much use on the Dimarzio front for seven strings but I'd echo what Ant said and recommend the blackouts. I have a set in my RG7420 and they're bloody awesome. They do require a battery, but there is no hassle and the battery is only on when you have a cable plugged into the guitar. Additionally they are very low current draw so you get around 5000 hours from one PP3/9V battery.

Shit, I forgot it was for a 7 string. Sorry, need more coffee this morning.

Honestly i've tried only a handful of Dimarzios...not many at all, the Megadrive was awesome but as said there isn't a 7 string version, I tried the DiMarzio Blaze Custom and wasn't very impressed with it, I also tried an Evo which was better but I must say every Seymour Duncan i've played wiped the floor with every DiMarzio I tried other than the Megadrive.

If you're not completely sold on DiMarzios I'd recommend this:

Bridge:
Duncan Custom™ SH-5 and TB-5 - Seymour Duncan Medium Output

Neck:
'59 model SH-1 and TB59 - Seymour Duncan Vintage Output

I mean that when you order them, you pick the wiring config (2 wire, 4 wire), the type (6/7 string), the cover (none, black, aluminum), and so on, and then once you've ordered it they make them and send them to you.

Tack så mycket

Hmm well as I have no plans on a trip to GB then the BKP will probably have to be a later endeavour...

The problem isn't when I have the actives installed, but rather to have them installed :S I'd rather not pay for a technician to install them, but as many of you keep saying that the blackouts slay any dimarzio... I might consider it

But what about the dimarzio cruchlab and liquidfire? Those are Petrucci signarure shit, and while I may not have a Music Man they won't at least make my guitar sound worse?!? or will they...

Hur går det?

Export prices on BKP's are actually very good, what I meant was that in our economy, BKP's are cheap compared to SD and Dimarzio, who artificially keep their prices high.

Not played the CL/LF combo. Some people rave about them, other do not. Regarding a tech install, it really depends how much you can afford. There's nothing like a fresh install and setup from a good tech to make you love a guitar...

Soop has CL/LF in basswood, and he likes it. I have CL/LF in basswood in both of my EBMMs. I like it in the 6, not so much in the 7.

They wouldn't be my first choice for mahogany.
