I have plans on buying a BC Rich 7 string (maybe a Jr V 7). I like the guitars, but the pick ups...
The BSDM pick ups are good compared to other stock pick ups, but they are not comparable to real metal pick ups. I'd like to replace them with something better
I am not that good at pick ups and the science behind them unfortunately :/ Therefore I was hoping that you might be able to help me, or at least push me in the right direction
I play a lot of melodic death metal (Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork, Threat Signal, MyGrain, etc) but also softer stuff (like disturbed, etc) and heavier stuff (normal death and black metal stuff, and symphonic death/black metal).
I have EMG 81's on my main guitar, and I like them very much But since I already have a guitar with 81's I'd like something else for this one
I have heard a lot good things about Dimarzio and Seymore Duncan, but also Bareknuckle.
Any opinions? (On these three and other brands, as well as on specific pick ups of each brand). Feel free to tell me your preferences, opinons, ideas, recommendations, advices, etc etc ^^ All help is useful
If you like the EMG's but want something a little different, try the SD Blackouts. Especially for 7's, as they make standard sized, and EMG sized housings. As far as passives, if you can stretch, try BKP Aftermaths. One pick-up that REALLY surprised me recently, was a Dimarzio Evo., that kicked ass through a 5150.
