I have to spend some more time getting to know these, but my first impression is by and large Dimarzio did a pretty good job here. The Texas Special is a little more chimey and has better dynamics than the Dimarzio, and is absolutely gorgeous clean, however with moderate distortion they're surprisingly hard to tell apart on a youtube video.
One gripe so far - the string to string balance isn't terribly good, particularly with the low B. The Texas Specials have a vintage stagger, while the Area '61s do not, so single note lines on the higher strings are a little less even with the Texas Specials, which is a little problematic if you play as much legato as I do. Is this something that can be user-adjusted?
Otherwise... Did I mention these are gorgeous clean? Especially the neck/middle position... Man.
Much like your hair, the TX Specials have a nice shine to them.
