Check out the Duncan Custom 7....that pickup sounds awesome in basswood guitars. I had it in an RG7420, and I also put one in a custom Agile Hornet that had mahogany wings (maple neckthru) it sounded good in mahogany, but it sounded Awesome in the RG.

I would recommend taking a close look at the BKP miracle man. Although I have never used one, they seem to be BKP's most thrash metal type pickup. Also have read lots of reviews about then sounding awesome in basswood. Have a look on sevenstring.org and the BKP forum, lots of great reviews on them being used in basswood.

Anyone want to talk me into or out of a Liquifire 7/ D Activator 7 combination? I think this may be the way to go. Not sure I want to make the dive on a BKP. I'm hearing good things about the DA 7, but I'm not sure if it would be a good general use pickup or if it's a one trick pony. I'm not seeing many good quality clips around of it with a clean tone.

I can't imagine MM and DA are miles apart. But surely different. I say DA/LF all the way.

Making metal every night and day.

I don't mind the Liquifire. It's kind of an odd counterpart too the DA though - the LF is kind of creamy and smooth, whereas the DA is all high gain bite. I have DA7s in my Sherman and had them in my 1527 and I like them a lot. If anything, I'd get a matched set of DAs. They are kind of a one trick pony though, which is what gives the BKPs the edge. They sound great all around.
