Thinking about new pickups for my ESP.

this will likely be the last upgrade I will perform to this guitar, and it might not even be a permanent one. It's an Alder body with Maple neckthru, and currently has an EMG 85 in the bridge, and an EMG HA in the neck. both pickups are run through an EMG SPC, with a master volume.

I want to go all-out in the bridge with something for high gain. In the neck, though, I'd like something more along the lines of a single-coil, though with enough output to compete, which is why I love the HA so much. I'm not opposed to wiring in a coil tap, or even just wiring one coil in and leaving the other out entirely. I use the guitar both for metal shows and open jazz nights, which is why that's important.

Any ideas? I've been thinking about going BKP, but I know that there are a ton of options out there and I don't want to make a decision without considering almost all of them.

Duncan Distortion and Jazz would be a good start.

Take a look at the BKP warpigs set ( ceramic bridge). I have them in my Soloist with the same wood spec as your guitar. They sound killer, and with a push pull to split them very versatile.

Duncan JB/Jazz set is probably my favorite setup for two hum alder guitars.

If you like a brighter, more single-coily attack, the Dimarzio Humbucker from Hell is a great neck pickup.

Yeah, I'd been reading about the HFH, that's certainly one of the ones I'm considering. I think step one, though, is to install those quick-connect dealies to make swapping pickups easier... I spend so much time wrist-deep in customers' guitars soldering them back together that I can't stand too much working on mine.

...It's funny. Every guitar I finish looks spotless with perfect joins and just enough wire. 5 mice could live in the cavity of my guitars. 'that's good enough, it works'.

Is it still possible to get the wolfetone rewinds, or is he still spotty on delivery times/even taking orders at all?
