Well I finally got my Jackson back from the shop today, after having it there for what seems like all summer switching out pickups, preamps, and messing with the trem. I had a stop put on the trem, and I got a J50BC from Rougeleader and a je-1000 copy off the 'bay and had that put it.
Contrary to popular belief round these parts, it actually sound real nice, I had a switch put in to be able to turn the gain boost on and off, and I look forward to messing with the eq settings.
Too bad the signal I'm getting is intermittent.
I'm really hoping it's just a shitty wire somewhere, because I'm going to be pissed if I dropped 40 bucks on a shitty preamp, becaue that means I'll be stubborn and end up getting the EMG ALX set, just for the preamp and sweet sweatband.
Hopefully it's just a cold solder joint somewhere. Does it short out when you poke any wires in the control cavity?
