So I'm just starting out. Right now I have an Ibanez- it's really cheap, really simple. Got it from a friend years ago before I started playing legitimately. Now I'm wanting to take my playing to the next level, but I'm not sure where to go.
I know that pickups are a huge factor in a guitar, besides the guitar itself or the materials used when making it..
I'm looking for something that can play drop B/drop C very well without getting any ringing because of the action. I'm playing mostly metalcore/hardcore, melodic/symphonic metal, grindcore, with a bit of crabcore. Think A Day to Remember, Funeral for a Friend, Bullet for My Valentine, Born of Osiris, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, Killswitch Engage, Abandon All Ships, etc. I think you get the idea.
Looking for something that can take heavy distortion, pick up great pinch harmonics, etc. What makes a good pickup? I know /nothing/ about pickups, and I don't just want them listed here. I want to learn what makes a certain pickup better than another, equal, or better for one thing, but not another.
Duncan Distortion. Just ask Ola Englund.
