I recently picked up an Ltd H-400, with the cockstock. It has a mahogany body and neck. It came with an Emg 81/60 combo. I would like to replace them for a number of reasons. Any suggestions? Budget is not an issue.
Things I am looking for:
I would like to add some clarity and warmth, with a touch of aggressiveness. I play ALL kinds of music, and use an AxeFx II through a frfr setup. I would also like for them to sound great when coil split/tapped.
Thanks in advance for any help.
BKP Nailbombs. I've got a set (ceramic bridge version) in an all mahogany Dean V and they're brilliant for high gain clarity, the neck sounds kinda piezo like for cleans though so the neck one might not he what you're after.
There's also the obvious Duncan JB Jazz combo, but I find that gets a bit muddy in Mahogany.
