So, I'm going to get back into playing my seven strings.
The problem is, they have EMG 707s in them.
So I ordered cork-sniffing passives to replace them.
Here's my question... what's involved in direct mounting the pickups? I've never owned a guitar where I didn't have pickup rings (except my sevens that have EMGs), so I'm not sure what I need to do.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Hey buddy! So there are two ways that most people control the height of the pickup, and that is a foam block under the pickup, and springs co-axial with the screws. To be honest, I think a combo of both is best, as the foam keeps the pickup level and the screws provide some force up for height control.
Stewmac has springs:
A lot of people use weather strip foam, like this
Both are super cheap, so I would do both.
