That's one of a few BKPs I didn't geton with... Though I suspect you have very different tone requirements than I do. It delivered everything it said it would in the description, so I am not exactly sure why I even tried one.
Enjoy it, knowing that you're a death metal guy, I think you'll love it!
Sweet! thats what I'm hoping. I mainly use EMGs. The only passives i use are a set of Duncan Invaders, which i do enjoy. But i've been itching for a new flavor. Super stoked on these coming in!!!
This has been my goto pickup for years now. Its so fucking brutal. Its comparable to a duncan invader/distortion or a d-activator which are somewhat comparable to emgs in crazy output.
If you have the money for one don't let the price put you off. I got an Aftermath recently and it is an amazing pickup! Totally worth the price.
Even though I was changing from a low output vintage style pickup to this, it completely transformed my guitar from a twangy thin sounding strat like guitar into a full and thick monster of a guitar.
I had a Warpig in my Warmoth swamp-ash Star. Tone was great, but the output made the great tone pretty compressed sounding, so I went with a lower output pickup.
I still miss my warpigs - some of the most monolithic pickups I've ever used. So aggressive. EDIT: But not in a ridiculous, muddy way like some - they really are just a weirdly clean pickup with a ton of grind.
I have Warpigs in my 8s. I love them. To echo what's been said, they're not muddy at all and give great, clear distorted tones. They're probably not what I'd pick if I was going to be doing a lot of clean playing, but I'm not, and they're awesome.
This thread is making me want a warpig. Clear and brutal grind is JUST what I look for in a metal pickup, and these sound right on the money. Fuck off dudes.
I had a C-Pig in my 8-string Agile for a while. It certainly was clear and tight despite being girthy, but there was just something about it I couldn't get along with. There was something about how it sounded or felt, or probably how it felt as a result of how it sounded, that made it feel awkward and uncomfortable. That's the only time I've ever had that kind of experience with a pickup. I'm probably the only one who has felt that way about it, though.
thanks man, me too! We'll see. I haven't tested them out 'in the mix' yet.. so maybe the boominess of the neck wont be an issue. My buddy has a set of Nailbombs coming in for his PRS, I'm interested to hear those too.
This is exactly what ive been messing with for the last hour
i cant get to a good spot where i can hit pinch harmonics with ease on the neck pickup :/ its throwing my leads off
