Going all single coil. And loving it.

So I picked up my guitar a couple months ago and started riffing on the single coil bridge pickup setting by accident. Ibanez 7 string S series with dinar zoo blazes. Thought it sounded really weird and different but loved it and just tracked an entire album using only single coil for rhythms. Best thing I've ever done with my tone. Pinch harmonics can get tricky and certain techniques don't translate the same but note interaction in chords and note clarity is through the roof. Did a lot of experimentation with neck single coil too for tapping riffs that called for it. Just finished the album so more videos to come.

DiMarzios shall now be forever called dinar zoos.

There actually is a pretty sweet thread that happened here last year with the same topic: http://www.metalguitarist.org/forum/...gle-coils.html

I'm more of a humbucker guy for rhythms and single coils for leads. HSS is pure win for me.

I do enjoy a good single coil in the bridge, but if I had a choice, I'd definitely go HSS on my RGD.

I can't get along with single coils for metal rhythms, but I often really like them in most other contexts. I need to get a guitar with P-90s.

The right singlecoil can work REALLY well for metal. My guitar teacher had a Tele that absolutely slayed for metal, but sadly I don't know what the bridge pickup was.

    Singlecoils rule, indeed.

This is why I love the P-Rails. I'm only ever a flick of a 2-way switch away from a P90
